The official trailer for ‘Close Your Eyes’ by Víctor Erice has been released. The Goya Awards, a major Spanish film festival, is set to take place in Valladolid on February 10, showcasing the best films of 2023. Among the most nominated films are The Snow Society, 20,000 Species of Bees, Saben Quell, and Un Amor. However, ‘Close Your Eyes’ stands out as one of the favorites, starring José Coronado and directed by Víctor Erice.

‘Close Your Eyes’ was previously featured at the Cannes Festival and the San Sebastián Festival, generating some controversy for participating out of competition. Despite this, the film has become a favorite among moviegoers since its release in September. Víctor Erice, known for his previous works such as The Spirit of the Hive and The South, has returned with a mature and special film, earning 11 nominations at the Goya Awards, including best director.

The film begins with a sequence that may deceive the viewer into thinking it’s a detective film, but it’s actually a reference to director Miguel Garay and actor Julio Arenas. The story takes a leap in time, following the disappearance of Arenas and Garay’s search for his friend. ‘Close Your Eyes’ has been well-received in theaters, with over 81,000 spectators and 429,065 euros in revenue. It is now available for rental on platforms like Filmin and Movistar+.

The film will be available for free to Movistar+ subscribers starting February 8, just in time for the Goya gala. José Coronado, the star of ‘Close Your Eyes’, has a successful career and has previously won a Goya Award for Best Actor. With his nomination for ‘Close Your Eyes’, there is anticipation for the film’s potential success at the Goya Awards.
