Manchester United star Marcus Rashford was spotted at Belfast’s Thompsons Garage nightclub for the second time, just hours before missing Red Devils training due to illness. The forward was seen in Northern Ireland on Wednesday and reported ill hours later, causing him to miss Friday’s training sessions.
Manager Erik ten Hag addressed Rashford’s absence at the press conference before the match between Manchester United and Newport County in the FA Cup, stating, “This morning, Rashford was ill and Evans was ill. So we have to see how they recover.” Rashford did not play in Manchester United’s 4-2 victory against Newport County, and when asked about the absence, Ten Hag simply stated, “It’s an internal matter. I’ll deal with it.”
Rashford’s trip to Belfast was to visit his friend Ro-Shaun Williams, who plays for Larne FC. However, his decision to go out clubbing at night has drawn criticism from Ten Hag, who previously reprimanded Rashford for his nightlife activities in November.
The consequences of Rashford’s actions could be severe, as he may face a fine of over 760,000 euros, equivalent to two weeks of his salary. This is not the first time Rashford has faced disciplinary action for his off-field behavior, and it remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved within the club.
