The Black Sea Grain Initiative, an agreement aimed at facilitating the flow of agricultural products among Black Sea region countries, has been extended. The United Nations confirmed this extension, but did not specify its duration. Ukraine stated that the continuity of the Initiative has been agreed for 120 days, while Russia only wanted a 60-day extension to assess the progress of its agricultural exports affected by Western sanctions. The UN sealed a memorandum with Russia to facilitate these sales, but difficulties persist in payment systems and the reluctance of private companies to participate due to possible sanctions violations. The UN spokesman emphasized the importance of both agreements for global food security and called for all parties to fully implement them.
