UK Prime Minister Dismisses Member After Tax Investigation

British Prime Minister Sacks Conservative Party Chairman over Ministerial Code Breach

British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak sacked Conservative Party Chairman Nadhim Zahawi on Sunday after an investigation found breaches of ministerial regulations.
An independent inquiry established that there was a serious breach of the ministerial code, leading Sunak to remove Zahawi from his role in His Majesty’s government.
The investigation was launched following Zahawi’s fiscal problems, and when concluded, it revealed that he should have declared the tax investigation in question as well as updated his declaration of interests after settling his dispute with the tax authorities.
In an effort to affirm his authority, Sunak decided to remove Zahawi instead of asking for his resignation.

Amidst the Conservatives’ 13 year power, the party has seen its reputation tarnished with conflict-of-interest scandals, creating a credibility crisis and leading to corruption allegations from the Labor Opposition, who are now leading the polls.
