On Monday, 27th March 2023, two S-300 missiles from Russia hit buildings in the center of Sloviansk in Eastern Ukraine, resulting in the destruction of the buildings. Emergency services are currently working on the search and rescue operation. Sadly, according to Donetsk Region Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko, the missile attack claimed the lives of two people while injuring 30.
Kyrylenko confirmed that the missile attack targeted administrative, office, private homes and five large-scale buildings. The missile strike took place at 10:30 a.m. local time.
In a statement, President Volodimir Zelensky expressed his displeasure with the attack, saying that the new day had begun with the terrorism of the Russian Federation. He went ahead to state that Ukraine would not forgive Russia for their actions and that Russian terrorists would be defeated and brought to justice.
The orphanage in the nearby town of Druzhkivka was also hit by two S-300 missiles, and Kyrylenko confirmed that the facility had been almost completely destroyed. The military official did not provide any information on whether there were any casualties in the Druzhkivka attack.
Clearing of debris from the missile attack is still ongoing in Sloviansk, and the Ukrainian government has promised to provide assistance to the people affected by the Russian missile attack.
