Former US President Donald Trump has taken to his social network, Truth Social, to call for protests against his potential arrest in relation to allegations of money payments to porn actress, Stormy Daniels. He believes that he will be arrested by Manhattan district attorney’s office for an investigation into a payment of $130,000 made to Daniels during his 2016 campaign for the White House. According to reports, the investigation is focusing on Trump Organization’s business records, concerning how the reimbursement of that payment to former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was included. Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor in New York. Trump plans to hold his first major electoral rally in Texas next weekend; however, some of his potential Republican rivals for the 2024 election have been campaigning at a meeting in South Carolina, emphasizing the importance of choosing a candidate who is not “destroying the country”. Meanwhile, from the Democratic administration, Nancy Pelosi emphasizes that “no one is above the law” and criticized Trump’s call for protests as “reckless” and likely to encourage unrest among his followers.
