Gibbs Urges Arsenal to Keep Kieran Tierney
Former Arsenal left-back, Kieran Gibbs has called on Arsenal not to sell Kieran Tierney in the upcoming summer transfer window. The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko has seen Tierney pushed to the bench and restricted his game time this season. Although Arsenal’s performance dwindled, Zinchenko outperformed Tierney, keeping him as the number two, but Gibbs believes that he still has the capability of performing at a high level.
Newcastle United’s Interest in Kieran Tierney
Tierney was benched for Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which suggests that he might leave the club. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United is reported to be interested in the 25-year-old, and they have secured a place in the Champions League next season. If this transfer materializes, Arsenal must find another left-back. Gibbs warned that it would be difficult to find another top performer like Zinchenko to fit into Mikel Arteta’s style.
Tierney’s Suitability for Newcastle United
Gibbs stated that Arteta’s playing style might not suit Tierney the way it does Zinchenko. Newcastle United’s playing style may suit Tierney better, and he could enjoy more game time as well as the benefits of playing in the Champions League. For the betterment of his career, a transfer to St. James’ Park would be a wise move.
