Sciences Po Paris, one of the most famous universities in France, prohibits use of AI tools
The Institute of Political Studies in Paris, popularly known as Sciences Po, founded in 1872 has announced that it has prohibited the use of the ChatGPT tool or any other type of artificial intelligence (AI) tool.
Sergei Guriev, Sciences Po’s Director of Research Training, informed students and teachers in an email that the use of ChatGPT or any other AI tools “without explicit mention, is strictly prohibited for the production of written or oral work by the students”.
The university specified that it will only allow these tools for “pedagogical use and organized by a professor”. In the event of violation, students may be subject to sanctions ranging from expulsion from the university, to expulsion from higher education.
The institution flagged its concerns about fraud and plagiarism, and said that it “is concerned with guaranteeing the quality and integrity of its training and its degrees”.
