The latest installment in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy XVI, is expected to take players on a 35-hour long story-driven game. In a recent interview with Famitsu, director Hiroshi Takai and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that the story was designed to allow busy players to complete it without having to invest too much time in the side quests. Originally envisioned as a 20-hour long game, the team ended up expanding the content to meet the expectations of avid gamers. The developers have added secondary content that can take around 70-80 hours to complete, depending on the player’s style. This includes side quests, skill-building, and acquiring all accessories and monster hunts, which will get players to the maximum time. There will also be a New Game+ mode called “Final Fantasy Mode” where players can carry over stats from old games to compete with others worldwide. Final Fantasy XVI is set to release on June 22, 2023.
