The nominees for the 96th edition of the Oscars have been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The awards ceremony will take place on March 10. Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid announced the complete list of films, directors, actors and more that will compete in the 23 categories.

Oppenheimer is this year’s favorite with 13 nominations. It competes in categories such as Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt) and Best Adapted Screenplay. Additionally, it appears in most technical categories.

Poor Things, the film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone, received 11 nominations. This includes Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor (Mark Ruffalo), Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Hairstyle and makeup, among others.

Barbie, Oppenheimer’s great competitor at the box office, was further behind with eight nominations. This includes Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress and Supporting Actor (America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling) and Best Original Song.

Greta Gerwig, director of the film, was not nominated in that category. Anatomy of a Fall was strong in these nominations, as it is a candidate for Best Film, Best Director (Justine Triet), Best Actress (Sandra Hüller), Best Editing and Best Original Screenplay. Additionally, The Snow Society earned a nomination for Best International Film and Wes Anderson received a nomination in the Best Live-Action Short Film category for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
