“The Adventures of Maurice”: An Animated Film Inspired by a Classic Fairy Tale and a Best-Selling Novel
“The Adventures of Maurice” (The Amazing Maurice) is an upcoming animated film that promises to be a hit with families and fans of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. The movie is based on the Grimm Brothers fairy tale of “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” and on Pratchett’s book “The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents”. The script was written by Terry Rossio, the screenwriter of such hits as Shrek, Aladdin and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The animated movie features the voices of Hugh Laurie as Maurice, a stray redhead cat and an experienced con man, Emilia Clarke as Malice, and Himesh Patel as Keith, a boy who can control a plague of very polite rats with his flute. Other actors in the cast include Gemma Arterton, David Thewlis, David Tennant and Julie Atherton.
The plot follows Maurice and Keith as they team up to pull off a scam and make enough money to go to a magical island where animals and humans live in peace and harmony. Along the way, they encounter dangerous enemies, including the boss man, Peaches and the Pied Piper.
The film is directed by Toby Genkel and lasts 93 minutes. It will be released in Peruvian theaters on March 9, 2022.
“The Adventures of Maurice” is inspired by the classic tale of “The Pied Piper of Hamelin”, in which a piper comes to a town infested with rats and offers to rid them of the pests in exchange for a reward. The townspeople agree, but when the piper isn’t paid, he lures away all the children of the town with his music.
The movie also pays homage to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels, which have a cult following. “The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents” tells the story of a group of intelligent rats who team up with Maurice, a cat who can talk, to con towns out of their money. The book won the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 2001.
“The Adventures of Maurice” promises to be a fun and exciting adventure for children and adults alike, full of humor, action and heart. So mark your calendars and get ready to follow Maurice and Keith on their wild escapades!
