Sophia Brown’s Journey of Mastering a Rare Instrument in ‘The Witcher Blood Origin’

Sophia Brown gives Life to La Alondra in The Witcher Blood Origin Prequel
For fans of The Witcher series, the prequel recently released on Netflix called The Witcher Blood Origin, was a ray of light. It stars a talented cast, including actress Sophia Brown in the role of Eile (The Skylark). Brown demonstrated her musical prowess by having to learn to play a traditional Swedish instrument called the nyckelharpa from scratch.

The Witcher Blood Origin gives insight into the mysterious origin of the witchers, 1200 years before the events of the original series. It follows Eile, who leaves her post as a warrior of the Queen’s guard to become a travelling musician. Brown had to master the Nyckelharpa to play the Black Rose song in a tavern scene, which divided the series in two.

Based on the universe created by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher Blood Origin was written by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and features an all-star cast starring Michelle Yeoh, Laurence O’Fuarain, Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, and Nathaniel Curtis. It managed to continue the show’s high quality, with fans already calling it a success.
