Priyanka Chopra’s former business partner, Maneesh Goyal, is expanding the Sona restaurant in New York City after the actress exited the project. The new addition to the restaurant is called the Salon at Sona, which is a tea and cocktail lounge located at the front of the hotspot.

To celebrate the opening of the new lounge, Goyal co-hosted a holiday soiree called “Tea & Tinsel” with Waris Ahluwalia, who is the founder of the House of Waris Botanicals tea line. The event was attended by socialites including Marjorie “DJ Mad Marj” Gubelmann, Jill Kargman, Amit Dishon, and “The Real Housewives of New York City” star Jessel Taank. Guests were treated to champagne and lite Indian bites from the new salon, as well as cocktails from Goyal’s other downtown spot Temple Bar, and libations infused with Ahluwalia’s tea.

The celebration marked one of the restaurant’s first events since Chopra’s departure from the project over the summer, two years after it opened. Chopra’s representative had previously stated that bringing Sona to life would be a proud and significant moment in her career, as she has always aimed to bring Indian culture to the forefront through storytelling, whether in film and TV or through cuisine.

Goyal expressed gratitude for Chopra’s partnership and support, stating that while she will no longer be involved as a creative partner moving forward, she remains part of the Sona family. The expansion of the restaurant with the addition of the new tea and cocktail lounge marks an exciting new chapter for Sona.
