Short-Range Missile Fired by Pyongyang, Seoul and Washington Deploy Bomber

North Korea tested a short-range ballistic missile on Sunday, launching it into the Sea of Japan. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Japanese authorities both detected the test, which came soon after the North announced it had launched a new intercontinental ballistic missile. The launches coincided with joint exercises conducted by South Korea and the US, which saw the deployment of a B-1 strategic bomber as well as F-35A stealth fighters and US F-16 planes. Both South Korea and the US are calling for increased combined defence against North Korean aggression.
