Clausura 2023 continues with leader Pachuca going up against Tigres UANL
On January 15, 2023, the second day of the Clausura 2023 tournament kicked off with a victory for Santos (3-0) against Pumas UNAM. Diego Medina and Colombian Harold Preciado scored twice and once respectively.
Santos was the dominant team in the first half an hour of the match, putting Pumas under pressure in the second part of the first half. At the 16th minute, Medina scored with the left foot to leave Santos in the lead. Pumas came close to equalizing, but missing a shot with everything in their favor.
Santos completed the rout with another left-footer shot from Medina (62′) and penalty shot from Preciado (87′). The win led them to the seventh place in the table whereas Pumas landed three seats below.
The competition continued as Monterrey defeated Cruz Azul 3-2, Juárez beat Tijuana 3-0 and América tied with Toluca 2-2. Argentine Germán Berterame, Rogelio Funes Mori, Darío Lezcano and Jesus Dueñas scored for the former two games respectively. Carlos González, Carlos Orrantia, Brian Rodriguez and Henry Martín got the scores for the latter two.
San Luis took first place after drawing 0-0 with Chivas de Guadalajara and Puebla won 2-0 against Querétaro with Federico Mancuello and Guillermo Martínez scoring. The day began with Atlas winning 2-1 over Mazatlán.
This Sunday, the leader Pachuca will be contesting against second placed Tigres UANL. On Monday, Lion will receive Necaxa.
