Russian forces launch missile strikes in East Ukraine
Ukraine’s General Staff reported Russian forces launching two missile strikes, two other air strikes and a total of 24 MLRS (unmanned aircraft) strikes in the east of the country on Thursday.
The civilian infrastructure in cities such as Slovyansk and Kramatorsk were targeted. The region is one of the four that Russia has annexed unilaterally and has not yet fully controlled.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the enemy attempted to make an offensive in the areas of Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka, despite their heavy losses.
The military party further reported that the areas of Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Bajmut, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Druzhba and New York were hit with tanks and artillery.
President Vladimir Zelensky has asked allies to send more weapons in order to prepare for possible further Russian retaliation at the beginning of spring next month. Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian Army has been fighting the Russian invasion since February 24 and that the situation is critical.
