
Russia reclaims control of settlement Krasnopillya in Donetsk
Russian Defense Ministry announced on January 23, 2023 that volunteer soldiers with the support of operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Southern Military District have taken control of Krasnopillya, situated 28 kilometers north of Ukrainian stronghold of Sloviansk.
Based on Defense’s daily war report, around 60 enemy fighters, two armored fighting vehicles, three vehicles, two Msta-B and D-30 howitzers, and a US-made AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery radar have been destroyed in the area.
Krasnopillya, previously a town of around 320 people, is located in between Sloviansk and Izium, with a population of around 45,000 inhabitants and around 120 kilometers southeast of the regional capital, Kharkiv.
Russia declared victory and was able to reclaim control of the strategic city of Bakhmut, Soledar, the neighboring Sil railway station and Klishchiivka in recent weeks.
