Ukraine Intercepts 24 ‘Kamikaze’ Drones Amidst Missile Attack
The anti-missile alert sirens blared in all Ukraine Thursday morning after a Russian attack was reported, with the kyiv authorities able to intercept the attack for now.
Nataliia Humeniuk, the Ukraine’s Pivden Operational Command’s head of the Joint Press Center, confirmed to local media that the anti-aircraft sirens were at full blast on the Ukrainian territory.
Kyiv’s Chief of Staff, Andriy Yermak, declared that the first missiles had been intercepted, although he failed in mentioning the number of missiles and the area they were aimed at.
The Ukraine Air Force Command also reported on their Facebook account that 24 Iranian-made “kamikaze” drones had been shot down during the night of January 25-26. The drones had been launched from the eastern coast of the Azov Sea, according to the Armed forces.
The Military Administration of the city of kyiv warned on the night of the same day, about 15 Shahed drones would fall on the city. All of them were destroyed in the airspace.
The Ukrainian authorities, managed to repel the attack, but all eyes are now turned to the ongoing tensions between the two countries. EFE int-rml/hma � EFE 2023.
