Kremlin Annexed City of Zaporizhia Attacked, Reports of Casualties

On January 14, 2023, violence broke out in Zaporizhia, a city annexed by the Kremlin last year that is only partially in control of its Russian troops. The puppet administration of the city, quoted by the Interfax agency, reported four dead and five wounded, with additional three reported injured. A store and the city administration building were damaged in the attack.

The regional authorities issued a statement, calling for understanding of the situation and assistance to those affected by the violence. According to the statement that was released, they appealed to the international community to support the efforts of the regional administration in order to guarantee peace and stability in the region.”

The situation in Zaporizhia is still on-going. All the casualties remain to be identified, the perpetrators of the violence have yet to be found, and the circumstances of the incident remain vague.
