Russia and China Share ‘Unprecedented Level of Relations’: Sergei Naryshkin
Russia’s director of foreign intelligence, Sergei Naryshkin, told the press on January 17th, 2023 that Russia and China share an unprecedented level of relations going “beyond the traditional dialogue”.
“We have a high level of interaction, we share a large volume of intelligence, operational and warning information,” Naryshkin said about the relationship between Russia and China, which has been notably silent about Moscow’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
The spy director also spoke about his conversation with US Central Intelligence Agency director William Burns, London, which happened two weeks ago in Ankara. He called the meeting “great and significant”, having lasted approximately two and a half hours. While a second meeting could take place in the near future according to Naryshkin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said today he was unaware of its likely date.
Even so, he affirmed that this dialogue is “useful” and thus “cannot really be ruled out”.
