The Attorney General of the State of Mexico withdrew from pursuing the criminal action against Roxana Ruiz, the young Mexican who was sentenced on May 15 to more than six years in prison for killing her rapist in self-defense under the concept of excessive use of legitimate defense. The prosecutor’s office explained in a statement that, after analyzing the sentence in the case, it was determined that Ruiz acted in legitimate defense. The woman spoke to News about this decision by the authorities that leaves her one step away from regaining her freedom.
