Does Daisy Ridley Return to the Star Wars Franchise?
When The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters in 2017, Daisy Ridley bade farewell to her role as Rey Skywalker, the newly introduced character in the sequel trilogy. Since then, there have been no more Star Wars movies, but with series being released, rumors of possible projects in this universe have been abuzz.

During the Sundance Acura Festival Village, Ridley said, “I’m open to receiving a phone call, I’m looking for a job.” Talking to Rolling Stone, Ridley shared her thoughts on Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter, “you can be a heroine without coming from nowhere or become a descendant, literally, of the worst person in the world.” However, that decision was never in her hands, “you are not your parents or your grandparents, you are not your lineage. Neither did the generations that came before.”

Though Rey hasn’t appeared in new movies or series, she hasn’t been entirely absent from the franchise. In the novel Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith, a younger version of Rey appears alongside her parents, while in Star Wars: Resistance Reborn, she is part of the Resistance and featured in some canon comics.

At the moment, the future of Rey Skywalker in the franchise is uncertain, but with Ridley’s openness towards either returning or taking on a new role, fans have something to look forward to.
