Quilmes police officer shoots head of motorcycle robber

This Wednesday, a robbery in the Buenos Aires district of Quilmes ended with an alleged criminal being shot by a police officer who was a victim of the assault. The incident took place around 6:45 p.m. on the corner of Lavalle and José Hernández Avenue. The sergeant of the Local Prevention Police Unit (UPPL), who was off duty, was intercepted by two motorcycle jets. The criminals attempted to rob the officer, who resisted and shot one of the criminals in the head with his service weapon. The other criminal fled the scene on the motorcycle.

An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) transported the wounded man, 36 years old, to the Iriarte hospital in Quilmes, where he remained hospitalized but out of danger. A replica of a 45 caliber pistol and a screwdriver were seized from the scene of the robbery. The prosecutor in charge of the case is Martín Conde, from the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 3 of the Judicial Department of Quilmes.

Just a week ago, in the La Matanza district, a member of the Federal Police killed a motorcyclist who tried to assault him. The officer, dressed in civilian clothes, was heading to work at the PFA sanatorium when he was approached by two motorcycle riders who attempted to steal his belongings. The officer resisted and a confrontation with gunfire ensued. The officer shot the thief who was driving the motorcycle in the head, killing him. The officer was also shot in the leg and had to be transferred to the hospital where he works.

The accomplice escaped on foot and the motorcycle had a kidnapping request. The prosecutor in charge of the investigation is Matías Folino, who ordered the seizure of the officer’s weapon for expert reports.
