Phantom Liberty Allocated Larger Budget than that of Witcher 3 Expansions

CD Projekt Red announce upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077

Polish developer CD Projekt Red have revealed their plans for the upcoming expansion of the blockbuster game Cyberpunk 2077. Titled Phantom Liberty, the expansion will exceed the budget of any other expansion they have developed to date and have comment in an interview with the Polish media Parkiet, hoping that it will appeal to existing players, as well as encourage new players to join the world of Night City.

Chief Financial Officer of CD Projekt, Marek BugdoĊ‚, also spoke about future improvements to the game for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X and PC. These include improving the police chase system, as well as gunplay inside of vehicles. No timeframe was given for the release of Phantom Liberty, however it will be released sometime in 2023 on next-generation systems and PC.

The game was also recently expanded with the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, with the first season now streaming on Netflix. However, CD Projekt RED Japan have said in an interview with Famitsu that no plans are currently in place for a second season of the show, with it having been planned as an “independent product”.
