Paris 2024: The Torch Relay Starts in Marseille

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics might still be a couple of months away, but that doesn’t mean Paris 2024 isn’t making preparations for its epic torch relay. On Tuesday, the Paris Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games confirmed that the Paris 2024 torch relay will start from Marseille.

The committee further announced that showcasing the city’s rich history, culture and architecture, the 100-day torch relay will visit all corners of France and end in Paris.

The relay will highlight the “Rendez-vous 2024” movement, which has been intended to rally the public and athletes around the Paris 2024 Games. According to the Paris Organizing Committee, the chosen route is designed to bring the Olympic flame closer to fans and local communities as it passes through about 100 cities and towns in France.

It’s estimated that the torch will pass through 8,000 towns and will be carried by 12,000 torchbearers. This unique relay will include special “Exceptional Stages,” which will allow organizers to tailor activities to local circumstances.

The relay will begin on June 24, 2024, in Marseille and end with the Olympic games in the iconic Olympic Stadium on July 24, 2024.

The Paris 2024 torch relay promises to be an exciting journey for all involved.
