Organizers of Don Omar Concerts in Bolivia Arrested Following Cancellations
Organizer and representative of singer Héctor Landron arrested in Bolivia after concert cancellation
On January 20, 2023, the director of the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc) in Bolivia, Rolando Rojas, announced that the organizers and representative of the singer Héctor Landron, have been arrested for “multiple victim fraud”. The arrest took place after a scheduled concert for Landron was cancelled due to a lack of necessary security requirements.
Thousands of fans had purchased tickets for the concert in La Paz and Santa Cruz, only to have their hopes dashed due to the cancellation. The Vice Ministry of Consumer Defense had initially announced a fine of approximately $3,400 for the organizers.
The alleged fraud committed by the organizers and the representative of Landron is similar to another incident in June of last year, when a concert by Mexican Christian Nodal was cancelled just hours before it was set to begin.
The organizers and representative must now answer to the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the incident. Agencia EFE SA prohibited any redistribution or duplication of all or part of the content of its services.
