Olimpia Humiliates Real Sociedad in 5-0 Rout for Latest Crown
Olimpia, Real España and Progreso Get Victories in First Day of Honduran Clausura Tournament
The Honduran Clausura tournament kicked off on Saturday with four games. The national champion, Olimpia, led by the Argentine coach Pedro Troglio, was victorious against Real Sociedad. The final score of the match was 5-0.
Real España, with Julio Rodríguez as a new coach, defeated Victoria 4-0. Uruguayan Claudio Inella opened the score in minute 52 and was joined by the Argentine Ramiro Rocca, Darixon Vuelto and Paraguayan Pedro Baez in scoring the remaining three goals.
Progreso, led by Colombian John Jairo López, won 2-1 against Vida in a dramatic match. Two goals from Dixon Ramírez and Jhan Carlo Mora, for Progreso, took the match to minute 88. Juan Ramón Mejía scored the only goal for Vida, but it was too late to turn the match around.
Motagua, helmed by Hernán Medina, lost 2-1 against Universidad Pedagógica. Carlos Mejía opened the score in the 14th minute for Motagua, however Pedagogical University tied the game at 57 through Oliver Morazán and at 68 Jairo López scored the comeback goal.
Finally, Olancho and Marathón tied 2-2 after a goal from Cristian Altamirano in minute 28 and Ovidio Lanza in minute 51. Clayvin Zúniga and Damín Ramíre scored the two goals for Marathón.
