NetherRealm, the developer of Mortal Kombat 1, has finally announced the release date for the highly anticipated DLC guest character, Peacekeeper. The official Mortal Kombat account tweeted that Peacekeeper will be available for Early Access on February 28. The new season of the fighting game is expected to arrive “around the same time,” marking a significant expansion compared to previous Mortal Kombat 1 seasons. More details about the release will be revealed later this month.

Early access to the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC characters is exclusive to those who have purchased Kombat Pack 1 and typically lasts for a week. This suggests that Peacekeeper will be available for purchase by everyone else around March 7. Kombat Pack 1 includes access to a variety of characters, including Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from DC, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takahashi Takeda, as well as Kameo fighters Tremor, Mavado, Janet Cage, Ferra, and Khameleon.

The version of Peacekeeper in Mortal Kombat 1 is based on the character played by John Cena in the DCEU and the future DCU, featuring the actor’s voice and likeness. Notably, there is no mention of crossplay for Mortal Kombat 1. In December, NetherRealm announced that crossplay support for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S would be available sometime in February, but the Nintendo Switch version is not included.

Mortal Kombat 1 was launched in September 2023 and has reached three million in sales. However, the game’s community has become increasingly dissatisfied with its aggressive monetization, poor communication, and lack of updates. Despite this, NetherRealm has promised to offer DLC with a story and “a big surprise afterwards.”

The announcement of Peacekeeper’s release date has generated excitement among Mortal Kombat 1 fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new character. With the promise of a new season and potential crossplay support on the horizon, players are looking forward to the future of the game. As NetherRealm continues to address the concerns of the community, it remains to be seen how the addition of Peacekeeper and other upcoming content will be received. Nevertheless, the anticipation for the new DLC and the potential for improvements in the game’s overall experience have reignited interest and enthusiasm among Mortal Kombat 1 players.
