Marvel’s Avengers to Say Farewell to Fans in Final Update From Crystal Dynamics
Crystal Dynamics Announces the End of Support for Marvel’s Avengers and Big Gift For Fans
Crystal Dynamics, the developers of Marvel’s Avengers, recently announced that the game will cease its support after one last update, 2.8, in March. However, there are plans to make the support available in some form until September 30, 2021.
In a statement, the company said that digital downloading will not be possible from September onwards, but ownership of the game would still be valid even after that date. It has also been confirmed that the Marketplace will be made available for free as a way of thanking the fans for their support.
The game, initially released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation4, and Xbox One, later made its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms in early 2021. Although the game was accused of profiteering in its commercial approach, it had a rather successful run, receiving multiple updates and additional content.
Players have commended the developers for their gesture of making the marketplace content available at no cost. This comes as a pleasant surprise, given the misfortune of the title’s cancellation.
