Pope Francis discusses importance of value of marriage during Roman Rota judicial year inauguration
Pope Francis discussed the importance of the value of marriage during the inauguration of the Judicial Year of the Roman Rota on January 27th. He spoke on the necessity to rediscover “the meaning and value of the conjugal union between a man and a woman”, on which the family is founded. He emphasised the “practical ignorance” that both individuals and groups can have about the union.
The pontiff argued that marriage is “not a ceremony or social event”, but “a reality with its own precise consistency”. He highlighted the importance of the union between man and woman, that is “faitfhful and forever” as well as “a good with extraordinary value for all”. He added that the Church must “accompany with love and hope” such unions “in crisis” and stressed the need to “renew awareness” of the irrevocable gift presented in the Sacrament of marriage.
