Man Arrested and Charged with Multiple Charges After Hitting Girlfriend

A Plainfield man has been arrested by Joliet police after threatening his girlfriend with a gun and violently attacking her during a domestic dispute. Jonah Madia, 52, was arrested on multiple charges after officers responded to an emergency call regarding a domestic disturbance at a home in the 6300 block of Clifton Court. The police found Madia in a bedroom and detained him, while his 38-year-old girlfriend was in another room. During the investigation, it was discovered that Madia had grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and slammed her against a wall before reaching for a gun and threatening her. He fired the gun twice on the bathroom floor and once on the bedroom floor. No injuries were reported, and the victim’s identity was not released. During the arrest, officers found more than 800 grams of suspected marijuana, suspected LSD, commercial grade fireworks, and ammunition in the home. Madia is currently being held in the Will County Jail and is charged with domestic disturbance, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, endangering the life or health of a child, manufacturing and delivery of cannabis, possession of cannabis, and possession of explosives.
