Choir Singers Gather in Madrid for Peace

Choir singers from all over Madrid gathered in front of the Reina Sofía museum to sing for peace in Ukraine and around the world. The museum is a highly symbolic place in the capital of Spain since it houses the famous “Guernica” by Pablo Picasso, a pictorial plea that denounces the cruelty of fights. The painting was created in Paris between May and June 1937 and alludes to the bombing of the Basque city of Guernica, which occurred on April 26 of that year, during the Spanish Civil War.

“We are brothers, we are relatives, we are friends,” adds the Ukrainian singer Elvira Polyenova. The event was organized last year for the first time. The choirs are the “perfect instrument to send messages of unity and peace,” according to the coordinator of the event, Mariano García.

Choir singing is an effective way to promote harmony among different cultures and nations. The music creates a sense of togetherness and shared humanity, transcending language and cultural barriers. It is no wonder that this has become a popular mode of protest against wars and conflicts globally.

The singers took to the streets to raise their voice for Ukraine, which has been plagued by a conflict for several years now. The war has claimed thousands of lives and has left many cities in ruins. The peaceful demonstration in Madrid is a reminder that people around the world are watching and are standing in solidarity with Ukraine.

The event was a beautiful tribute to the power of music in unifying people, promoting peace and understanding, and emphasizing our shared humanity. As the world continues to grapple with conflicts and tensions, let us hope that these gentle voices of singers will be heard louder than the drums of war.

In conclusion, the choir performance was an amazing way to remind people of the importance of peace and unity. It was a testament to the fact that music is a universal language that can bring us all together. Let us hope that more such events are organized in the future as a symbol of hope and peace.
