Misleading claims have been circulating on social media about the delivery of German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine. The claims state that the tanks are not suitable for Ukrainian terrain, and newly arrived ones were captured after getting stuck in Ukrainian mud. However, investigations by The Cube have debunked these claims. The screenshots used to support the claims were from a video posted on Instagram by the Wartofta tank company, which is part of the Skaraborgs regiment of the Swedish Armed Forces. The video was shot in Slivakra, a town in southern Sweden, and the tanks shown were STRV-122 or Tank 122, which are similar to Leopard 2 tanks but adapted to the needs of Sweden. The German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks have been sent to Ukraine by several European countries after Berlin approved the transfer of the combat vehicles to Kiev in February. Ukrainian soldiers have been trained with Leopard 2 tanks in Germany and Spain before using them in battle.
