Kimora Lee Simmons recently expressed her gratitude to the California firefighters who saved her family from a house fire over the weekend. The 48-year-old mother of five took to social media to share the news, revealing that her house caught fire before the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) came to the rescue. She posted a picture of four people investigating her smoke-filled fireplace and confirmed that she and her five children were all safe.
The former model shared two additional snaps of the firefighters standing in what appeared to be her living room. The carpet was rolled back and debris was scattered on the floor in front of her fireplace. A rep for Simmons did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Kimora shares her daughters Ming, 23, and Aoki, 21, with ex-husband Russell Simmons, her son Kenzo, 14, with ex Djimon Hounsou, and son Wolfe, 8, with estranged second husband Tim Leissner. She also welcomed her son Gary, 10, via adoption in 2020.
Earlier this year, the single mom spoke out about the challenges and joys of parenthood. She mentioned that being a single mom is hard, regardless of wealth and fame. She emphasized the importance of keeping her kids happy and the daily work she puts in to achieve that.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for her family this year. Kimora’s eldest daughters, Aoki and Ming, accused their dad, Russell Simmons, of verbal abuse on Father’s Day. Aoki claimed her famous father threatened to ruin her modeling career and her chances at getting a job in Hollywood. She also alleged that communicating with him gave her panic attacks to the point she was placed on emergency medication every time they spoke. Russell later apologized, noting he was deeply sorry for being frustrated and yelling.
