Kim Kardashian Acquires Princess Diana’s Attallah Cross Jewelry

American businesswoman and model Kim Kardashian has acquired the Attallah cross, one of the jewels worn by Princess Diana of Wales, for nearly $200,000, Sotheby’s auction house has reported.

Kardashian won the item for 162,800 pounds (197,453 dollars) at Wednesday’s (18.1.2023) “Royal and Noble” auction in London. The Attallah cross is a pendant created in the 1920s, set with amethysts and diamonds. According to Kinglsey Pennie, global head of Sotheby’s Jewelry Europe and the Middle East, Princess Diana “had a special affection for it.”

The impact of Diana’s death in 1997 and her dream-like life as a royal continues to live on in popular culture. There have been various tributes to the Princess, including a piece of art by Banksy, an orchid named after her in Singapore, Kristen Stewart’s Oscar-nominated portrayal of her in the movie Spencer and Emma Corrin’s Golden Globe-winning portrayal of her in Netflix’s The Crown. Elton John’s song “Candle in The Wind 1997” has also become a popular anthem in regards to Diana’s legacy.

Overall, while her physical presence may have gone, Diana’s legend lives on. Kim Kardashian’s purchase of her iconic Attallah cross will certainly ensure it will endure for years to come.
