Melissa Benoist, the actress behind Supergirl, has been announced as a new addition to the voice cast of Masters of the Universe: Revolution. The upcoming animated series is a sequel to Kevin Smith’s 2021 series titled Revelation. Benoist will lend her voice to the character of Teela, a role previously played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
“I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend Kevin and join the Revolution family as another bold and intrepid hero,” said Benoist. The signing of the actress has been celebrated by Mattel, and the casting is sure to generate excitement among fans of the franchise.
The original storyline for Revolution focuses on the classic rivalry between He-Man and Skeletor in a new way, with He-Man and his warriors fighting against forces of darkness that threaten their world. The technology and magic of Eternia will collide in this epic chapter of the battle for the planet.
Mattel Television’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Fred Soulie, expressed excitement about the casting: “She exemplifies every aspect of Teela’s formidable personality. And we know that she will continue to show the same heart as in Supergirl. She will give audiences a new iteration of a classic character synonymous with strength and heroism.”
The casting of Benoist is another example of Hollywood’s commitment to diversity and equal representation in its productions. Fans of Masters of the Universe are sure to be thrilled to hear her voice in the role of Teela.
