Katie Moore Porter, 50, is a US representative for California’s Senate District 47. She previously represented District 45 and is now seeking the US Senate. Porter represents Orange County in the state Congress and will seek the California senatorship in the next primary elections.
Katie Moore Porter is a lawyer, politician, and Democrat who was born and raised in southern Iowa. She graduated from Yale University in 1996 and later attended Harvard Law School, graduating with honors in 2001. Porter has dedicated herself to caring for California’s working families through her ties to politics.
From 2019 to 2023, Porter represented California’s 45th Congressional District and is currently the representative of the 47th District. She was previously appointed as an independent supervisor of the state’s banks by then-Attorney General Kamala Harris. In that position, Porter demonstrated that the banks had deceived homeowners and helped Congress pass the Credit Card Act, which enacted federal protections against abusive fees.
Porter first ran for the United States House of Representatives in 2018 and has been part of American politics since then.
