President Joe Biden has ordered that flags on all official buildings of the United States be flown at half mast as a sign of respect for the victims of the recent school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee. The shooting, which took place at a Christian private school, resulted in the deaths of three children and three adults. Biden has stipulated that the flags will remain at half mast until sunset on Friday, March 31. The President emphasized the need for greater gun control measures, stating that more must be done to protect the country’s educational centers. Police have identified the attacker as Audrey Hale, a former student at the school. The alleged attacker, identified as a 28-year-old trans person, was killed by police after carrying out the attack with two rifles and a pistol. The Covenant school, where the attack happened, serves students up to about 11 years old. This year alone, there have been at least 30 reported incidents involving firearms in US schools, resulting in eight deaths and 23 injuries.
