**Spain Bracing for Closure of Terrorist Investigation in Algeciras Attack**

Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has convened a meeting in Stockholm on Friday, January 26, 2023 with European counterparts to wait for the development of the investigation into the fatal stabbing attack in Algeciras.

Grande-Marlaska expressed his desire to have the investigation conducted as soon as possible and with the utmost professionalism. He expressed his solidarity with the families of the deceased, injured and the population of Algeciras, promising them security.

A 25-year-old Moroccan man Yasin Kanza, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the attack at three Catholic churches in the town. Sources close to the investigation told EFE, the attacker shouted “death to the Christians” and “Allah is great” while committing the act.

Moreover, Kanza was in an irregular situation and pending deportation from Spain. Grande-Marlaska has decided to shift to Algeciras on the same day to gain direct knowledge of the events before the closure of the investigation.
