Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff returns to Pokémon GO in February 2023 with a lot of New Challenges
Pokémon GO trainers are in for some new challenges as Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff returns to the game for the month of February. This guide tells you about how to find and beat Cliff, successfully concluding all steps to be able to face Giovanni.
Obtaining a Radar Rocket
The first step is to obtain a Radar Rocket, which can be done through a few mediums – by completing Special Research, by buying from the Shop, or by defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and collecting six Mysterious Components which will in turn award a Radar Rocket for free.
Finding Cliff
Once the Radar Rocket is equipped, it can be used to search for Cliff at PokéStops or at Balloons, as part of the game or as a special research.
Beating Cliff – Best Counters
Cliff is very difficult to beat – to aid trainers, the guide provides details which Pokémon he may use and which counters should be preferred while battling him. At present, Cliff is known to use Magnemite, Venusaur, Omastar, Pinsir and Sharpedo. These counters are effective for each of them – for Magnemite; Rhyperior, Ho-Oh, Mega Charizard Y and Moltres; for Venusaur; Mega Charizard Y, Articuno, Mamoswine, Mega Alakazam and Mega Pidgeot; for Omastar; Mega Venusaur, Mega Sceptile, Dark Meganium, Shaymin (Earth Form) and Kartana; for Pinsir; Ho-Oh, Mega Charizard Y, Rhyperior and Tyranitar; and for Sharpedo, Mega Beedrill, Mega Manectric, Togekiss, Mega Blaziken and Mega Venusaur.
The guide also details the ideal counter for Cliff’s Camerupt, which is vulnerable to Water and Ground-type attacks. Trainers looking for help for other aspects of the game can look for the game’s guide for all kinds of help, including how to request new PokéStops or how to get all the Badges.
