The first trailers for Death Stranding 2, now officially known as “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” left fans with more questions than answers. Luckily, Hideo Kojima is willing to clarify all doubts (always with some limits, of course).

In a new episode of his HideoTube podcast, available on his official YouTube channel, the well-known video game creator and developer spoke about the setting in which the story of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes place. He made it very clear that the sequel does not take place in America.

“It’s a different continent,” said Hideo Kojima. “It is no longer the American continent. [Sam] It goes there to connect the Chiral Network. If you go to the United Cities of America, since it is a different continent, it can be considered an invasion. Therefore, a private entity will create the infrastructure.”

Kojima left us with the idea that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes place on a different continent, without ever revealing what that continent is. Instead, the creator of video game went on to talk about the operations ship that Drawbridge will use: Magellan.

“When you connect the Chiral Network, the ship can move freely through those areas,” Kojima explained. “Once you connect it on your own, you will be able to call the ship and your crew will be there.” He also added that the ship will be able to move even “underground.”

Added to all this news is something that will delight fans: the changes that will occur in the terrain due to earthquakes, floods, forest fires and various catastrophes. These changes will take place in real time.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach recently presented a great trailer. The last time we saw Kojima’s next was in the first State of Play of the year. The extensive trailer showed us left with a good amount of new images, as well as the return of Higgs and the presentation of a most curious puppet.

The trailer also revealed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is scheduled to debut in 2025, with a date yet to be announced. The game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the game and are excited to explore the new continent and experience the real-time changes in the terrain. With Hideo Kojima’s reputation for creating unique and immersive gaming experiences, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is sure to be a hit among gamers.
