Henry Martín’s Hat-trick Leads América to Dominant Victory Over Mazatlán

America defeats Mazatlan 6-0 in round four of the Clausura
América scored six goals in a dominant victory over Mazatlán in their fourth game of the Clausura 2023 of Mexican soccer.

Martín, three times, the Uruguayan Jonathan Rodríguez, the Chilean Diego Valdés and the Paraguayan Richard Sánchez scored for the Azulcremas.

América scored thrice in four minutes, with Rodríguez assisting Valdés in the 30th minute and Martín’s header in the 34th. Sanchez followed suit by taking a free kick in the 40th minute.

Martín scored twice more, in the 59th and 93rd minute, helped by Spanish Álvaro Fidalgo and Peruvian Pedro Aquino, respectively.

Mazatlán had been one man less on the field since the 12th minute due to the expulsion of Roberto Meraz, for violent play, resulting in a 6-0 victory for América.

Meanwhile, Chivas de Guadalajara moved up to fifth place by beating Juárez FC 2-1 and Atlas drew 2-2 with Santos Laguna.

The fourth day of the Clausura saw Tigres UANL, Monterrey and Pumas Unam all earn one point. Rayados head the standings with three wins, one loss and nine points.

The Querétaro-Cruz Azul match will be played on March 29.

América’s victory sees them rise to sixth place with six points.
