Harry Styles and Wet Leg Nominated for Four Brit Awards
Sam Ryder and Wet Leg Lead Nominations for Brit Awards 2023
The Brit Awards for 2023 have announced their nominations with Eurovision hopeful Sam Ryder and indie duo Wet Leg up for some of the most coveted awards.
Sam Ryder is nominated for Best Album for “Harry’s Home”, Best Song for “As It Was”, and Artist of the Year with no competition from female artists, creating controversy over the British Phonographic Industry’s (BPI) selection process.
Wet Leg, formed by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, is up for Best Album of the Year with “Wet Leg”, Best Band, Best New Artist and Best Alternative Rock.
Categories of Best Song of the Year, which is one of the most desired awards, are contested among Sam Styles, Lewis Capaldi with “Forget Me”, George Ezra with “Green Green Grass” and Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John with “Merry Christmas”.
In Best International Artist, three superstars – Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Lizzo – are the favorites to take home the award against Kendrick Lamar and Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy.
Awards for four categories – Alternative Rock, Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Artist, Dance Artist, and Pop/R&B Artist – will be decided by public vote on the social network TikTok.
The ceremony will be held on February 11 in London and will feature performances from Sam Smith, Kim Petras, Wet Leg and more.
