Get Ready: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Is Releasing in the 2023/24 Fiscal Year

Nacon, the publisher of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, has given its fans a clue about the game’s release date. In the financial report for the third quarter of the 2022/23 fiscal year, it suggests that the title will be available between April 1 and September 31 of this year, in the middle of the 2023/24 fiscal year.

This would have seen the light on September 1, just a day before the premiere of the Amazon Studios production of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. However, the development team announced that they needed additional time, saying in a statement, “First of all, we want to thank you for your patience and support thus far. Over the past few years, our team has worked hard to bring a memorable story into this exciting world, full of magic and fantasy. We are dedicated to meeting the expectations of our community and uncovering the untold story about Gollum in a way worthy of the vision of JRR Tolkien.” They added that the delay would be “a few months.”

The development team behind the game, Daedalic Entertainment, confirmed that the story for Gollum will take place in parallel to The Fellowship of the Ring, when Sméagol lost the Ring and left the Misty Mountains behind to embark on a journey to the dungeons of Barad- dur and the kingdom of the elves in the Forest of Mikwood.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced in 2019, with a planned release date of 2021, though this has been delayed several times. With the new launch window now specified, fans of the game are hopeful for its arrival.
