German Chancellor Angela Merkel Warns Against War Escalation Between Russia and NATO Member Countries
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Alberto Fernandez of Argentina have held a joint press conference at the San Martín Palace in Buenos Aires, warning against the escalation of a war between Russia and the NATO states, in response to the shipment of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine by the Executive.
“We have done everything so that there is no escalation of this war that leads to a conflict between Russia and the NATO states. We are going to do everything so that this does not happen,” said Merkel at the press conference.
The visit made by the German Chancellor to Argentina is her first official one since she took office in December 2021, as part of her tour of South America taking her to Chile and Brazil.
