France Repatriates Over 40 People from Jihadist Camps in Syria
France Repatriates 87 Women, Children From Syria Prison Camps
France repatriated 87 women and minors from prison camps in northeast Syria on Tuesday in its third airlift from the country, the French Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement that 15 women and 32 minors were sent to child support services after the flight out of the Roj camp, located near the Turkish and Iraqi borders.
The adults were handed over to the relevant judicial authorities, the statement said. The repatriation operation follows one in July 2022 repatriating 16 women and 35 minors, and October’s mission involving 15 women and 40 children.
The women and children repatriated on Tuesday had been held with jihadists belonging to the Islamic State (IS) group.
France has been repeatedly hit by jihadist attacks, particularly in 2015 when IS promoted its terrorist operations. (afp)
