League 2 is back and promises to be a thrilling tournament in Peruvian football. On Wednesday, the draw for the complete fixture of the Second Division tournament will be announced live via FPF and YouTube. The contest will feature 14 casts, although only 13 will fight for the long-awaited promotion of two places to the 2023 edition of League 1. Ayacucho FC, one of the 14 casts, received communication from the FPF to play in League 1 of 2024, following claims in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS). The club is optimistic about the response of the highest national entity and has even planned to play the competition with Under 23 footballers.
For the current edition of the Second Division tournament, the contest will be divided into regular stages and Offs. The 14 members of the championship will face each other in round-trip matches (all against all system) during the regular stage. After this phase, the first of the accumulated table will be proclaimed as the champion of League 2, while the last one will go to Copa Perú.
During the Offs, the second and third place of the accumulated will go directly to the semifinals, while the fourth to seventh place will play from the quarterfinals. The tournament promises to be an exciting one with Huaral and Universidad San Martin slated to play.
