Deadly Crash Involving Dump Truck on New Jersey Highway
One person was killed in a fiery crash on the eastbound side of I-78 in Springfield Township near exit 49B. The accident involving a dump truck, a tractor trailer and a Dodge Ram pickup truck happened around 12:30 p.m.
News Copter 7 captured footage of the scene showing flames and thick black smoke rising from the wreckage. The driver of the dump truck was killed in the collision.
Express lanes on the highway are closed in both directions and will remain closed for some time. Additionally, nearby Rt. 24 is experiencing significant delays that stretch back to Florham Park.
The incident is still under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash. Eyewitness News will provide updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
