Sky Sports Pundit: Mason Mount Should Not be Sold to Arsenal or Liverpool
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has said that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly should not sell Mason Mount to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The two Premier League clubs have been linked with moves for the midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, 90min reported that Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on securing the services of the 24-year-old England international midfielder. Mount and Chelsea are unable to agree on a new deal, and the Gunners and the Reds are reportedly willing to take advantage of this situation. Manchester United have also been linked with Mount.
Former Arsenal star Merson has outlined the reasons why Chelsea should not sell Mount to Chelsea or Arsenal. Merson wrote in SportsKeeda:
“Chelsea face an uphill battle to finish in the top four next season, so they can’t afford to sell Mount to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, or Liverpool, as they’d be strengthening one of their rivals. He’s come to a bit of a standstill this season but he was Chelsea’s Player of the Year in 2021 and has a wealth of experience for a 24-year-old.”
The Possibility of a Summer Transfer
In our view, Arsenal or Liverpool could be able to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. There is no smoke without fire. We believe that if Arsenal or Liverpool make a good offer, then the England international could well decide to make the move.
Yes, Mount has been on the books of Chelsea his entire club football career so far, but players do move. It is important to note that a transfer is currently speculative, and it remains to be seen if a move will occur.
