
Minister, Deputy and Others Die as Helicopter Crashes Near Kyiv Kindergarten
On Wednesday (18.1.2022) morning, a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten in Brovary, a city of about 100,000 inhabitants near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. As confirmed by the Ministry of the Interior, 16 people have died, including Minister Denis Monastyrsky and his deputy, 9 of whom were on the helicopter, and 2 children.
“This morning, on January 18, an Emergency Service helicopter crashed in Brovary. As a result of the plane crash, the leaders of the Ministry of the Interior died: the minister, the first deputy minister and the secretary of state,” reads a note issued For the police.
Rescue teams are still working in the area to ensure safety and order. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
